After a degree in psychology, I spent 18 years working with children, first as a support worker with children and young adults with autism, then as a teacher. I first dipped into professional photography around 2014, working part-time for years before going full-time with Fior in November 2024. Everything before that still shows up in how I work now: noticing the small things, staying calm when plans change, knowing when to step back and when to lean in. It means the good stuff gets documented because people have forgotten I’m there.

Outside of work, I’m the oldest child and boy mum to Jacob and Harry, who were my motivation to pick up a camera. Mornings start with coffee (and an attempt at meditation that doesn’t always go to plan), evenings usually end with a candle lit and a book. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and I’d rather have one real conversation than ten small ones.
That’s the philosophy behind Fior: being rooted in family, watching a story spiral outward the way life does, and rising into whatever comes next. It’s the same thing I’m chasing in every photo I take.

WHY I DO THIS

Where it really started

My grandparents got engaged on a street in Kilmarnock, halfway between their two houses. They’d had an argument. My grandpa went into town, bought a ring, and asked her right there on the pavement.

I look at their wedding photo every day. They look so young, and nothing like the gran and grandpa I knew. When I was small, my grandpa walked the field beside their house every day, with us trailing behind with walking sticks he’d made, picking brambles and listening to his stories. They’re both gone now, but I still feel them in the land here.

That’s what your photos are for. One day, someone who loves you will look at them and see a whole life that came before them.
