JENNI & DARREN
ENTERKINE HOUSE WEDDING, AYRSHIRE

GETTING READY IN FENWICK
The weather had been miserable all week, and everyone had one eye on the sky. Then the day came, and it stayed dry. Jenni and Darren’s Enterkine House wedding began in Fenwick, the village Jenni grew up in, and it felt like most of Fenwick turned up for her.
Jenni got ready at her mum’s house, with hair by Stephanie Ross and make-up by Jodie Davidson. The house was busy but calm, and I think everyone was surprised by how laid-back Jenni was, Jenni included. Her dress came from Dream Brides in Irvine, and her flowers from Scarlet Rose in Kilmarnock.
A FULL CHURCH IN FENWICK
They married at Fenwick Parish Church, where Jenni grew up. A lot of local people gathered at the church just to see her arrive, which says a lot about the village, and about Jenni. She was given away by her dad’s best friend.
Both Jenni and Darren’s dads have passed away, but they were still with them, in photo tributes and in lots of mentions throughout the day.
There were plenty of children there, and I could see the little girls peeking round the ends of the pews to get a better look at Jenni in her dress. Drums & Drones played the pipes and drums, and there may have been a few tears in that church.

THEIR ENTERKINE HOUSE WEDDING RECEPTION
Their dog Rodney came along to Enterkine too, for a few special photos of his own. While the guests enjoyed arrival drinks and canapés, with Josh playing saxophone before the meal, we did the group shots out on the deck, with the Ayrshire countryside stretching out behind everyone.
Then Jenni, Darren and I took a walk along the Enterkine drive for their portraits, with Darren doing his best to keep Jenni’s train and veil out of the mud.
Their olive colour scheme suited the Oak and Glass Pavilion beautifully. During the speeches, Susan, Jenni’s maid of honour, talked about how proud Jenni’s dad would be, and Jenni and her mum both filled up.
Before the first dance, the three of us slipped away to the Whisky Library for a few more portraits, all dark wood and character. Then The 154 Band took over, and the Foxy Photo Booth kept guests busy in between dances.
Thank you, Jenni and Darren, for having me. It was a day full of the people you love, and the ones you were missing.
“You made me completely comfortable and I had the best day.”
– JENNI
